New Cartoon: 2005: The Year in Review!

Self-explanatory, really. Except I don't really drink champagne.

P.S. This is your last chance to buy some stuff from me before my sale ends, like a signed print or even the original of the above cartoons! Join my weekly mailing list by sending a blank message to newtoons-subscribe@mikhaela.net!

Random Bush-hating cat photo

Last year my then-new kitty Riley got very sick with a kitty pneumonia thingie and nearly died. Poor thing went down to 4 pounds, spent two weeks at the vet on an IV being force-fed, etc. When he came home he got ringworm. It was Not Fun. But as he was recovering, he got ahold of one of my reference photos of Bush and made this little photographic statement.

Thanks for reading!

I know I haven't been able to do much in the way of frequent blogging this year, but my readership seems to have mysteriously increased anyway (from an average 400 unique visitors per day to over a thousand per day), so to all of you, thanks for reading.

And that is all for now, as I am currently ill with my annual flu-like thing and must go lie down now. But you can always visit my links page or my cartoon archives if you're bored.

Guess who just walked over the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time in her life?

Yeah, that would be me. My company supposedly had vans tonight, but we waited and waited and waited and they never showed. So myself and two coworkers tried to hail several cabs, but they all refused (illegally) to take us to Brooklyn, except for one that wanted to charge us $20 each. So finally, I found a woman who was going to walk across the Bridge. It was really pretty, and we were walking so fast I eventually had to remove my hat, gloves, scarf (and unzip my puffy down coat). Red Cross workers at the end were handing out coffee and hot chocolate.

Earlier this morning, I wandered around for a while looking for the shuttle that was supposedly going to take me to work, but then a big van pulled up and a girl in a pink velour tracksuit yelled "need a ride?" So I hopped in with a bunch of other Brooklynites and they took us across the bridge for $5, but for some reason they took the Manhattan Bridge and then just dropped us off in Chinatown. So I still had a long walk down to the bottom of Manhattan, but it wasn't that bad, and it was something of an adventure. I saw that there were some busses running, apparently driven by policemen.

Anyway, hopefully the transit workers get a fair deal out of this. I worry that people don't sympathize as much with unions as they used to, and we're hearing a lot in the media coverage from irate commuters, stranded shoppers, poor people who can't get to work, etc.

New Cartoon: Fightin' Bill O'Reilly and the Elves of Fury in A Christmas BATTLE!

Sadly, I'm not making any of this up. And even more sadly, he seems to have convinced a lot of normally smart people (including many cartoonists) that there is a "War on Christmas!", an evil liberal secular conspiracy to suck the precious Christian joy out of the season. And yes, that's me in the final panel doing battle with the fiery Mr. O'Reilly himself.

My personal favorite Christmas cartoon so far is this one from Rob Rogers. Sing along, kids!

Oh, and I have a cartoon from last week, too, "It's not easy being a college gay-hater!"

P.S. This is your last chance to buy some stuff from me in time for Christmas or Chanukah delivery, like a signed print or even the original of the above cartoons! Join my weekly mailing list by sending a blank message to newtoons-subscribe@mikhaela.net!

Last chance to buy Mikhaela cartoon swag before the holidays...

If you want your gift in time for Christmas or Chanukah (both on Dec. 25th this year), please try and order by Friday or Saturday at the latest. But today would be ideal. See previous post for details. So far I've sold two originals and a bunch of books but no signed prints, oddly enough, considering they're only $15!

If you're giving out gifts late, the free shipping on signed prints and originals lasts as long as you order by Jan. 5.

Next cartoon coming up: Bill O'Reilly's A Christmas Battle. Stay tuned. I know I haven't been blogging much, but I've been doing tons of work and frantically preparing for a big blowout holidays (see the plural) party at my apartment.

Now through Jan. 5, get free shipping on signed prints and original art! Buy original sketches for as little as $20!

Original cartoons, prints, posters and books make lovely gifts for politically minded friends or nice treats for yourself. And if you order before Dec. 16, I think your orders should arrive in plenty of time for Christmas or Chanukah. (After that, I can try to use the most express shipping possible, just let me know.) I'd like to sell as many pieces as possible, as I'm trying to raise funds for a new computer (my old one is ages old and on its last legs). So please spread the word to anyone you think might be interested!

Books! (from $1-$14)

  • Good News! cartoon booklet ($3.00 each + S&H) Every copy is signed, and it makes a lovely stocking stuffer. (paypal buying link)
  • What Masheka Did ($1.25 each + S&H) Masheka Wood's cartoon depravity in comic book form. Signed.
  • Attitude 2. ($14 each + S&H) As with Good News, every copy is signed. I'll send by regular mail instead of Media Mail for no extra charge to ensure prompt delivery.

Original Art!(from as low as $20 for sketches to as low as $100 for cartoon originals)

  • Cartoons or illustrations drawn in pen or pencil (with some text glued on) come with archival color prints of the final cartoon or illustration suitable for framing. Rough sketches are sold by themselves. Please see gallery for details, and email me if you'd like to buy. If there's an original you'd like to buy that's not in the gallery, just email me--most cartoons are still available. And I'll be posting more sketches soon.

Signed High-Quality Archival Prints and Posters!($15-$35)

  • Archival inkjet color prints of select cartoons in limited editions of 25, suitable for framing, signed and numbered. Please see gallery for available cartoons, and email me if you'd like to buy. If there's a print you'd like to buy that's not in the gallery, just email me--I can be flexible. 8 1/2" x 11" prints are $15, 13" x 19" prints are $35. Email me to buy.

Please email me with any questions or special requests. A discount will be given for multiple purchases. All purchases done through PayPal for safety reasons. Thanks!
