Youth Pride, Romney-Style
Massachusetts Republican governor and
would-be president Mitt Romney tried to disband the Safe Schools
Program and the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, but
had to back down after protests and settle for just cutting the
funding more. As a former president of my high school Gay/Straight
Alliance, I can tell you how essential GSAs and the Safe Schools
program are for helping GLBT kids have a safe and happy high school
life, and in educating teachers and other students to stop being so
darn ignorant and homophobic. Romney=self-serving jerk. The best part
is that he made a speech about how the Youth Pride march shouldn't be
funded by taxpayers, but it's already privately funded.
